ME, My Bike & Manhattan

Yesterday I took a day off being Mom and drove into Manhattan for a bike ride.
Once the kids were loaded on the school bus I loaded my bike, and was on my way!

The rest of the afternoon Manhattan was my Playground. My friend, Heather, and I didn't have an agenda we just rode away.
It was a perfect day to bike.

I realized there are a lot of possibilities for a morning in the City.

Here are a few things I saw:

The Intrepid

Preschool Field Trip

Sailing School

"Stroller Boot Camp"
All these mommies were gathered along the Hudson River, strollers all lined up, working their Abs to the encouragements of a good looking fit Man, with an accent.

and then I saw THIS.....

That's when we decided to bike the Brooklyn Bridge.

We really worked up an appetite. You can imagine my excitement when we found this PIZZA Restaurant!

The BEST part about this restaurant is they DON'T sell slices. That only meant one thing.....A WHOLE PIZZA!!!
This pizza IS the BEST pizza I've had. (and I have had a few slices of Pizza in my lifetime)

If you're ever in Brooklyn check this place out!
GRIMALDI'S

When we arrived we were seated immediately. Once we left there was a line to get in.

Here is a map where I started (60th street) and ended (Brooklyn Bridge).
I followed the Hudson River down to the bridge, and back again to my car.

I returned home just as the kids got off the bus,
Perfect.
Everything was perfect.

I had so much fun, I'm already plotting my next adventure!

The Perfect Day

Let today be remembered as Ember's perfect day!
Today my cute little town held a fundraiser for the local
Fire Department and teamed up with Baskin Robin's and
Joe's Pizza.

PIZZA and ICE CREAM for 31 cents each!!!

Can my day get any better?

I've already made two trips ( it's only 400 steps away)
but the night is still young.

Sam came home from work and I walked over and picked up
his dinner (5 slices of pizza) for $1.55!!!

I think we'll make an ice cream run just before they close!

PIZZA and ICE CREAM.....ahhhhhh

Happiness is NOT sharing

A few days ago I gave Jace a snack with instructions to go share with
his siblings. He willingly agreed and disappeared.

Minuets later I found him ploped down in the middle of the hall enjoying the entirety of the
snack by himself.

“Jace, I’m really sad you choose not to share like I asked you to.”

“I’m not!” He retorted with a pleasent smile. “I’m really Happy!”

First I walked away, then I laughed.

Jace got a shaving kit for his birthday. Turning four brings Big Boy responsibilities!

Has Been..

Ten years does a lot to a family. Sam and I stood on the sidelines of a soccer field this weekend and watched our kids play soccer. Both of us having similar thoughts without sharing them at that moment.

"This is IT! This is what a “Family” is like."

Although I feel very young, I am entering the “Has Been” age group.

I remember being a child playing soccer. I remember running so hard my lungs felt like they were on fire. I remember the orange slices we would eat at half time. And I remember realizing I was FAST.

I DON’T remember my parents on the sidelines screaming at me to run faster, stand here, run there, or ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!

So, I had a bad parenting moment on the sidelines this weekend. I was that parent that got WAY too involved in the game.

Sometimes it’s hard to grow up.

Jace's Birthday!

Today is Jace’s 4th birthday!

This morning I pulled out 3 grey hairs!! Who is aging here?
I can honestly say Jace isn’t the cause of my proof of aging. He is such a good kid.
I love his little voice, his silly personality, and his patience. Waking up to his daily request of
“Strawberry Oatmore” puts a smile on my face. He is so easy to please.

I can’t believe he is already four!
I admit I do too much for him. He is my baby and that fact alone is keeping him young. I guarantee I wasn’t carrying Jarom or Jennica around when they were 4! I need another baby. My how time flies.

Yesterday was his special day. We had an animal party outside. The weather was beautiful.
He seemed to enjoy himself.

Being 4 is the perfect age. Time doesn’t exist. It’s play time all the time. You get to play with your older brothers stuff while he’s at school. You can plop over any time or anywhere and take a nap. And you can dress up like Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, or Dash and go to the Park and be totally convinced that you are really them.

I love viewing life through Jace’s eyes. It’s such a beautiful world.

Princess Treatment

Auntie Jess introduced Jennica to the world of Pampering!
We treated our feet to pedicures.
Jen didn't have flip-flops so our first stop was to the shoe store.

Jennica is funny with her feet. she won't let me get near them.

If I try to clip her nails, or even rub her feet she gets all crazy on me.

I was curious to see how she would respond to a pedicure, and once again she
proved my theory that "anyone but mom can do it" was on target.

They say it takes a Village to raise a child. Well, I'm ready to tap into the Village network already!

Auntie Jess helped today. Thanks Jess.
